Welcome to Ekri :)

Welcome to Ekri ☺

Through 6 short and exciting weeks of Junior Achievement, the Thursday Deloitte team was able to accomplish quite a lot of important tasks. This week, we finalized our product idea, created our company name, mission statement and created roles in each department.

Our President and VP executives were chosen 2 weeks ago in which we collectively decided upon 6 core leaders who would best represent the different departments. Kudos to the many candidates who tried out for these positions.

Choosing our company product was a difficult task. Our team had many different innovative ideas such as Mason jar lanterns, customizable notebooks, and bracelets. There were four distinctive groups and each group promoted their idea through a small presentation. This went on for many weeks until we decided upon Mason jar lanterns and customizable notebooks and majority voted for the notebook idea. The customizable notebooks were narrowed down to being composed of 3 types of pages (lined, blank, graph) with a refillable function. There are still many issues deciding upon the costs of the product, what the product will look like, but these issues are close to being solved.

For the company name, creative individuals brought up interesting ideas that would best suit our product and we collectively came up with a list of company names. We all decided on Ekri which means, "to write" in Haitian Creole. We chose Ekri because notebooks are fundamentally used "to write". Through this message, we targeted educational charities such as the Free the Children movement.

Our whole team is getting to know more about each other every week, and learning more and more about entrepreneurship. We're experiencing more and we're motivated to do the best we can!

Thank you for staying in tune with us
Until next time,

- Ekri
